Seth Curry balling out for the Dallas Mavericks
Dallas Mavericks point guard/shooting guard Seth Curry is having one of the best seasons of his career, and he has the numbers to prove it.
When the Mavericks signed guard Seth Curry in the off-season, no one in the NBA knew what to expect of the 26 year old — except that he was linked to All-Star brother Steph Curry.
The youngest Curry brother struggled to find his groove for Dallas in the beginning, but as of late, his numbers seemed to have changed. While Curry isn’t putting All-Star numbers, he’s giving the Mavs the spark they need.
What has Changed?
Since the beginning of the season the Dallas Mavericks have dealt with numerous injuries with players such as J.J. Barea, Dirk Nowitzki and Andrew Bogut. The health of the team has caused coach Rick Carisle to switch his lineups from game to game.
At the beginning of the season, the starting lineup was composed of Deron Williams, Wesley Matthews, Harrison Barnes, Dirk and Andrew Bogut. Once Dirk went down, the group of starters switched to D-Will, Matthews, rookie Dorian Finney-Smith, Barnes and Bogut. Now with Bogut out for some time, the lineup has changed all over again.

Over the past seven games the group of starters for Dallas has consisted of Williams, Curry, Matthews, Barnes and Dirk. One player who has taken his role into new heights in combo guard Seth Curry.
Since being inserted into the starting lineup, Curry’s numbers have increased and so has his contribution to the team.
Last week for the team, Seth Curry had 18 points against the Chicago Bulls, 15 points against the Miami Heat and Utah Jazz, and 14 points in a game in which Dallas gave the Los Angeles Lakers their worst lost in franchise history. (122-73 Dal win)
In 12 games that Curry has started this season, he has averaged 12.1 points per game to go with 2.5 rebounds.
Games in which the Dallas guard has come off the bench, he has averaged 10 points per game, along with 2.1 rebounds.
When given the opportunity as a starter, Curry has taken his game to the next level and has been balling out as of late for Dallas.
Season Comparison
The dual guard has not only had a great week, but a fantastic month for the Mavs. In October, Seth Curry was averaging 5 points a game. In December his numbers improved to 9.8 points per game. So far for the month of January, the 26 year old is averaging 12.1 points per game and his numbers don’t seem to slowing.
Seth Curry is not only having a great month to the year, but a fantastic season as well. When he first entered the season during the 2013 season, he averaged a mere 1.5 points per game. Just last season, her averaged 6.8 points during the season. Those number don’t compare to this season in which the PG/SG is averaging 10.6 points per game.

The 10.6 points per game this NBA year is the most Curry has averaged his entire career. Maybe all the guard needed was a change in scenery this year and a new team role as well.
